What is a rocoto?

Rocotos are a uniquely flavored hot pepper from the Andes. They're really hot, but less so than many of the superhots. They're tomato shaped, thick walled, and filled with distrinct black seeds with a flavor not found in any other chili. 

What makes your hot pepper sauce unique?

We're glad you asked! We're different, because our hot sauce uses a hard-to-find pepper called the rocoto, a spicy pepper from Peru native to the Andes mountains. Unlike other rocoto sauces, ours uses a fermented rocoto mash and isn't creamy. It's spicy, smoky, and a little tangy. We're not a traditional rocoto hot  sauce found in Peru, but something kind of like if a steak sauce married a wing sauce with rocoto flavor.

What should I put the hot pepper sauce on?

That depends on you! If you love it, put some on anything your heart desires. We love it on steak and wings, but it goes well with mac and cheese and chicken, too. If it's a little too spicy for you on its own, use it as an ingredient and add a healthy dollop to your next grilling marinade for a tasty twist. You'll have the happiest grilled meats on the block!

Why are you named Fresh Pepper?

When first making a hot sauce back in 2019, we were using fresh hot peppers grown on a fire escape and a slightly different recipe. We still use amazing ingredients, but the fermented rocoto adds a depth to the sauce that a fresh rocoto cannot.

How did you get this idea? What's the story, morning glory?

We will always prioritize delivering the highest quality product we can. If you find there is an issue with the quality of the product, contact us and we will help make it right. What is your shipping policy?

Your items will be shipped and processed by our fulfillment warehouse within 5 to 7 days. If there is an issue with your shipment, please contact sales@freshpeppersauce.com so we can make it right.

Do you have a retail location?

No, we are an e-commerce store only. Our fulfillment warehouse does not allow people to drop in and pick up orders. If you'd rather buy the sauce in person, see if you live near one of our retail partners. Please support small businesses.
